"People who bought Google’s stock from April 23, 2018, to April 30, 2019, will be able to apply for a share of the settlement," reports Geritt De Vynck. Google agreed to pay the fine to "settle a lawsuit years after lapse meant the personal data of users of its now-defunct social media website Google Plus was exposed to the internet."

"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention... revised its guidelines for tracking the genetic signatures of viruses collected from people newly diagnosed with H.I.V.... [now encouraging] health officials to be more transparent with their communities about the tracking, one of many changes sought by H.I.V. advocacy organizations concerned about how so-called molecular surveillance could violate patients’ privacy and civil rights."

The UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is reminding period and fertility apps to ensure they protect users' data. “Signing up to an app often involves handing over large amounts of personal information, especially with apps that support our health and wellbeing. Users deserve peace of mind that their data is secure, and they are only expected to share information that is necessary," says Emily Keaney, deputy commissioner for regulatory policy at the ICO.
